In April 2023, one of Wesley Hall’s members, Janet (Jan) Nichols sadly passed away after a difficult battle with cancer. Jan had been involved with many aspects of Wesley Hall for much of her life. Wesley Hall, she said, was her ‘second home’. Not only was she involved in the life of the church but she had also been a leader with the 27th Woolwich Scout Group and a leader with the 6th Plumstead Common Guides, both of which met at Wesley Hall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nA huge number of people donated money to Wesley Hall in memory of Jan. Jan\u2019s family are very grateful for these donations and the love for Jan behind them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a lot of discussion among the church community, a decision was made to spend this money on creating a special area in the grounds at the rear of the church to use as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- a quiet space for prayer and reflection;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- a focal point and space for outside services;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- a place for youngsters to go for learning activities (Scout group, pre-school children, etc.);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- a place to enjoy nature;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- a place for people to place memorials (e.g. plaques).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
We have called this area ‘A Place to Go’. It will include seating, planters, three stand-alone church windows and various other features as the project develops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Work began on 6th April 2024 by a huge team of volunteers from across the Wesley Hall community – church, Scout Group and Top Tots pre-school. We are extremely grateful to all these people for so generously giving their time, energy and skills to this project. As the project develops we will be publishing progress reports and photos here.
